At Wisedocs, we are excited to announce that our founder and CEO, Connor Atchison, will be speaking at the IAIABC 110th Convention in Toronto! On September 24th, 2024, at 10:30 am, Connor, along with Dr. Chris Brigham, will present "Navigating the New Frontier: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Workers' Compensation Systems." They will cover the implementation of AI technology, its role in expediting the claims process, and the extensive benefits it offers to both claimants and organizations in achieving fair settlements. These benefits include saving time and money and improving accuracy when it comes to managing workplace injuries and claims.

What is The IAIABC Convention?

The International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) Convention is an educational event that tackles the latest issues and explores new opportunities in workers' compensation. It covers topics like policies, regulations, and administrative practices. This year’s theme is “Passport to Solutions”, where attendees can look forward to presentations, workshops, and round tables to discuss solutions on how to improve workers' compensation systems globally. The main goal of this event is to bring together workers' compensation experts from around the world. If you're in Toronto this September, this is a convention you won't want to miss!

IAIABC’s Executive Director, Heather Lore, spoke with us about the upcoming conference.

“The IAIABC 110th Convention, with the theme Passport to Solutions, brings together workers’ compensation industry leaders, experts, and innovators in the workers’ compensation industry. The Convention addresses current policy, regulatory, and administrative challenges, trends, and opportunities affecting workers’ compensation systems around the world through presentations, discussion forums, roundtables, and networking sessions. Programming at the IAIABC 110th Convention will focus on the impact of artificial intelligence on workers’ compensation systems, work injury recovery management, the changing landscape of mental health, medical innovation globally, and much more! We hope to see you in Toronto, September 23-26.”

Navigating the New Frontier: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Workers' Compensation Systems

Our session fits perfectly with this year's "Passport to Solutions" theme by showing how AI serves as a powerful solution in workers' compensation claims. We'll explore various ways AI is used in the industry, demonstrating how it can streamline processes and improve workflows. We want everyone who attends to leave with a clear understanding of how this technology can transform their work, making things more efficient and effective.

Why We Need to Work Together to Create Solutions

Although there's been a long-term decline in workplace injury rates, recent data shows an uptick. Private industry employers saw a 4.5% increase in workplace injuries and a 5.7% increase in fatal injuries in late 2022. Along with the need to improve safety and prevention measures, medical costs in workers' compensation have been increasing. States like Illinois have seen medical service costs rise by 8.3% due to inflation adjustments in their fee schedules. Managing these rising costs requires innovative solutions and collaborative efforts that can be found in events like the IAIABC Convention.

Key Takeaways

The IAIABC Convention is a great opportunity to exchange ideas and insights on improving the workers’ comp industry. It's a chance for us to work together to make the process safer and fairer for everyone involved. Learning from each other’s experiences is key to driving innovation and progress in our field, and we’re thrilled to be part of the IAIABC’s 110th Convention this year. Plus, you can find us exhibiting, so be sure to stop by our table and say hello!
